Mandela Effect

By Kaleigh Fish

The Mandela Effect is when a group of people remember something that did not happen. A lady named Fiona Broome remembered that African President Nelson Mandela had died in prison during the 1980’s. She described news coverage about his death. Broome found other people that remembered it too. It never happened, Mandela died in 2013. This is why it’s named the Mandela Effect.

We all at one point in time remember things differently than others but these facts are interesting;

  • Fruit of the loom never had a cornucopia.

  • Curious George never had a tail.

  • Darth Vader did not say, “Luke, I am your father.” He said, “I am your father.”

  • It’s Smokey Bear not Smokey the Bear.

  • The Kit Kat bar does not have a hyphen in between Kit and Kat.

  • ET does not say, “ET phone home” he says, “ET home phone.”

  • The wicked witch in the Wizard of Oz says,”fly, fly, fly!” Not, “Fly my pretties, fly.”
